Shakespeare’s universal themes engage audiences of all ages with highly compelling issues: ethical clashes, never-ending, troubled social and interreligious relationships, love, hatred, the value of friendship and reality, greed and the role of money. Paolo Valerio’s production presents a company of ten actors and Franco Branciaroli, in the part of Shylock: a complex, enigmatic and cruel figure whose thirst for revenge bewilders the audience, arousing an emotional response that is close to compassion.
