After his landmark productions of L’uomo, la bestia e la virtù (Man, Beast and Virtue) and Sei personaggi in cerca d’autore (Six Characters in Search of an Author), Carlo Cecchi returns to Pirandello, on the 150th anniversary of the author’s birth, with one of the best known and most performed of the Sicilian playwright’s plays. Cecchi directs and performs the play with eleven other actors. Henry IV is one of the milestones of Sicilian writer’s stage and poetical work, and in it he addresses fundamental issues such as the mask, identity, madness and the relationship between fiction and reality.
