Amanda Sandrelli and Alex Cendron star in Carlo Goldoni’s classic about Mirandolina, a woman who is used to being in charge and determined to fight to assert her strength and dignity as an ante litteram suffragette. The play still captivates and entertains audiences today. The mistress of the inn, however, turns away from true love and unemotionally marries her servant: she will remain the unchallenged mistress of her life but is left with a bitter taste since she must repress her romantic dreams to be the mistress of her fate.
