In this captivating theatrical narrative, Laura Curino brings to life one of the most influential figures of the 20th century: Rachel Carson, a pioneer of modern environmentalism. Born in 1907 on a farm in Pennsylvania, Carson had never seen the sea until she was twenty. That experience led her to dedicate her life to marine biology, marking the beginning of a journey that would revolutionize both science and global environmental awareness. Over the years, Carson developed a profound understanding of the oceans and honed a clear yet poetic writing style, capable of translating complex scientific concepts into accessible language. Her most renowned works, The Sea Around Us (1951) and Silent Spring (1962), remain cornerstones of environmental literature. Through Massimiano Bucchi’s dramaturgical composition, Curino reconstructs not only Carson as a scientist and writer but also as a woman who found great support in her friend Dorothy Freeman. Sixty years after her passing, her message of environmental protection resonates more powerfully than ever.
