Travelling With Dovlatov

When someone leaves and doesn’t return, how do they view the objects left behind? Additionally, how do they see the items they take with them, and what significance will these objects have in their new life? Giuseppe Battiston brings to life the memorable characters from the everyday life of Sergei Dovlatov, the exiled journalist and a key figure in modern Russian literature. Directed by Paola Rota, this fictional portrayal explores an irreverent and ironic story, in which the protagonist expresses his love and hatred for the country he left using filters of paradox and comedy.
