One of Pirandello’s best known single acts is also a philosophical reflection on the relativity of the things of the world. After his success with Six Characters, Gabriele Lavia here plays the role of the Man nearing death who is driven to re-examine every detail of his existence, while we identify more with the conventional attitude of his counterpart, another Patron who does not yet sense the imminence of death.
