Mazzini, D’Annunzio, Marinetti

Giuseppe Mazzini, Gabriele D’Annunzio, and Filippo Tommaso Marinetti: three remarkable Italians, each with an extraordinary life, vision, and legacy. This is the subject of Edoardo Sylos Labini’s new show, written in collaboration with dramaturg Angelo Crespi. Adapted from the RAI Cultura and Educational program Inimitabili—now divided into three chapters staged on three separate evenings—Sylos Labini’s performance is accompanied by the original music of Maestro Sergio Colicchio and archival videos and images. These elements guide the audience through the lives of these courageous, nonconformist men who shaped Italy’s cultural imagination. Above all hovers the power of the spoken word, and the longing for expression, which—amidst their differences—binds the works of the three protagonists.
