The great trumpet player Paolo Fresu has created a performance about one of the 20th century’s greatest artists: Miles Davis. Joined by seven other musicians, Fresu looks back over the life and career of the jazz legend, a man whose personality resonates forcefully through not only his musical instrument but also through the gaunt face of his later years, the deep-set eyes that pierce the soul, the wrinkled hands that moved the hearts of millions who heard him. Davis’s story combines success and destruction. Most notably, his talent virtuously contaminated other soundscapes: funk, pop, electronics and renowned partnerships.
